FAQs
What’s therapy all about?
Therapy offers a unique opportunity to explore your experiences to date, and to provide a safe space from which thoughts and feelings can be expressed but also challenged. It is not always easy, but with better understanding of experiences and how they are felt by you, it can offer a great way to better understand yourself.
How long does it last?
Therapy is a very personal process and the length of time it takes it dependent on the individual and the themes we explore. I have worked with people in short term therapy, lasting between 6-8 weeks, and long term therapy lasting years. Short term work is often sort out when faced with a specific life event, such as a loss of a job that was significant. Long term work is catered more for issues centred around relationships - both to self and others.
How often should I attend?
I work with people on a weekly basis. This is because therapy needs enough time given to it to stand a chance of working, and anything less than weekly sessions is not enough time. I will sometimes consider drop-in sessions for clients who have since left therapy and feel they need a bit of support, this can be requested as a therapy MOT session, and is 90 minutes and priced differently than the standard 50 minutes for regular sessions.
Do you offer online sessions?
I am currently only able to offer virtual sessions through requests made via my private practice.
Fees
I charge £60 per session, including the initial assessment which is a full 50 minutes. I charge £90 for MOT sessions. Although MOT sessions are encouraged for previous clients as an opportunity to reassess and develop any previous therapy progress made.
Is what I discuss confidential?
Yes, anything explored in sessions is treated with the upmost confidentiality. I would legally need to disclose information to the authorities if an admission of harm to vulnerable people, drug money laundering, or acts of terrorism were admitted.
